"Beats Moire and gives the illusion Geometric line is designed to print smoother, high-quality images on lower- quality stocks. Consisting of a new, elongated line shape, it results in a clean and smooth structure without the usual rosette pattern. Coarse screen rulings appear much finer, and are free of typical moire effects often found in fleshtones (reds and yellows). Geometric line has excellent highlight, midtone and shadow detail, and a sharp, crisp appearance. The images above are enlargements of the same screen rulings. The left is conventional elliptical dot, the image on the right is Geometric line. Note how the geometric image appears smoother. Due to the mono-directional nature of a Geometric line, the screening angles can pass through a full 180 degrees before they start repeating, as opposed to a bi-directional conventional dot which repeats after only 90 degrees. The result of this is a effective doubling of the available screen angles, making it ideal for avoiding screen clash on special colours.
